Fraxel Laser on Dark Skin

Amanda,

Fraxel re:store can definitely be used on darker skin, however there is a risk of hyperpigmentation from the inflammation called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  It is a temporary condition, but it can be a hassle to treat.  We usually will pre-treat our darker skinned patients with a lightening cream called hydroquinone prior and during their treatments.  This is the same cream that is used to treat hyperpigmentation should it occur.  The best thing to do is to come into the office so that we can get a better idea of what condition is concerning you and whether or not the Fraxel is the right choice.
