Platysmaplasty

Jan,

A platsymaplasty is a procedure to tighten a sagging neck.  There is a thin muscle that attaches from the collar bone to the jaw bone.  There is one muscle on each side.  With age the muscle tends to separate in the midline and sag.  Think of the older neck that has two midline bands.  A platysmaplasty takes the neck muscle and reattaches it in the midline to provide support and tighten the neck.  It can be combined with liposuction in a younger patient’s neck and achieve results and is usually performed as part of a facelift in older patients.

  1. I have been considering Botox. Though after reading about the treatments you offer in your clinic, I am now wondering about Relaxed Expressions. First, how long will the effects of Botox last? The Relaxed Expressions section claims the results could be permanent. Second, when would one choose Botox over Relaxed Expressions and vice versa? Third, Botox claims no down time, whereas RE will have down time? And last, my concerns are fine frown lines, not deep furrows, which would be better for me?

    Please advise.
