Racine,
Thermage is radiofrequency tissue heating. It is suppose to heat the dermal layer of the skin and cause tightening and therefore cosmetic improvement. Initially they thought that thermage was going to be able to be done in the office, but the pain of the procedure proved too much. They began increasing the energy levels then in an attempt to get better results, but unfortunately that didn’t work either. I have personally never done thermage because I have never been able to see results. The information I have received from attending meetings and listening to talks on the technology is that it is painful and that the results are limited. Some patients see a result although it is short-lived and others see no result at all. I do not recommend the procedure. The company is trying to improve the procedure, but I am not hopeful.

Hello,
I know someone who has had Thermage. She seems happy with the results, however I am not sure of how convinced I am, personally, about Thermage. I hadn’t seen her for several months, but when I did, I sincerely thought she looked different, even better. She had pronounced facial lines down her cheeks, near her mouth (she is in her early 60s), but now her skin appears much smoother, more glowing, clearer and more even. That said, she had Thermage in March and has also begun using a skin care regimen from the dermatologist who performed the Thermage treatment. I asked her if she had experienced much discomfort, she claims not. What is more, she was told that she would have to wait 6 months post-procedure to see full results. She certainly does not look as if she has had “work done”, all the same, I am unsure if it was worth $3500. You mentioned it is supposed to cause tightening: is this to boost collagen production? Frankly, was she ripped-off?
