Question:
If I am looking for more subtle removal of wrinkles from my face, would Dysport be a better option over Botox? I have read that Dysport has 1/3 the active ingredient of Botox.
Answer:
We have used Dysport and Botox extensively and reviewed several studies. Botox and Dysport differ in the proteins that surround the active molecule. These outer proteins are cleaved from the active molecule almost instantly on injection. Clinically, we have not seen any difference between Botox and Dysport. Some patients prefer one over the other, but we have not been able to document any significant difference.

Question:
What areas of the face does Dysport work in? Does it work well when injected into the chin area?
Answer:
Dysport can be used in any part of the face that you would use Botox or any other neuromodulator. The most common areas for use are the glabellar frown lines, forehead lines and smile lines/crow’s feet wrinkles. Other areas are also common and beneficial however. These include the “bunny lines” on the side of the nose, upper and lower lip lines, depressor muscles of the corner of the mouth, chin and neck bands. Yes it does work well in for chin dimpling.
