Question:
Are there general things that Hispanic patients want changed about their nose with rhinoplasty?
Answer:
Hispanic noses are very individual just like Caucasian noses and each nose needs to be assessed individually. If you asked me to generalize however, Hispanic noses tend to have an under-projected and an under rotated tip oftentimes associated with a dorsal hump. Usually patients ask to refine the dorsal profile, as part of this, the tip usually needs to be elevated and rotated.

Question:
I’m Asian American and would like to undergo rhinoplasty. Are there any specific risks associated with Asians?
Answer:
The only specific risk to Asians is for hyperpigmentation of the skin and a slightly higher risk of a thickened scar, but these are both small. The greater difference for Asian rhinoplasty is that it is almost always an augmentation procedure and not a reduction procedure and often times either ear or rib cartilage is utilized depending on the degree of augmentation desired.
