Will a facelift get rid of marionette lines?

Question:
I am a 45 year old female from Round Rock and I’m looking to get rid of my marionette lines. Is a facelift the right answer for me?

Answer:
If marionette lines are your only concern, a facelift is probably more than you need. Most patients will do well by filling in the marionette lines. This is accomplished through the use of Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra, or Belotero. In certain individuals however, this is not adequate do to the degree of descent of tissue lateral to the marionette line. In that situation a facelift may be necessary with or without filler to accomplish the aesthetic goals.

Can fat grafting tighten my cheeks?

Question:
My cheeks droop a little bit.  Pictures of me make me appear older than I am. Is fat grafting involved in fixing a problem like mine or are non-surgical procedures used?

Answer:
Usually the aged appearance of the cheek is improved through volume enhancement.  This can be achieved with autologous fat or through the use of fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse or Sculptra.  A consultation with assessment of your particular situation will aide in deciding which procedure is most appropriate.

Is it true that Sculptra lasts two years and is it the only filler that lasts this long?

Question:
I heard that the injectable filler Sculptra can last two years. Is this true? Is this the only filler that lasts this long and what can it improve?

Answer:
Sculptra will last two years and probably longer.  There are fillers that last longer or are even permanent, but have other disadvantages.  Sculptra isa very useful filler for overall facial volume loss.  It is not useful for the lips or the thin skin around the eyes.

Upper eyelid lift with fat injections.

Question:
I heard that you can get something of an upper eyelid lift with fat injections to the temples. Is this effective?

Answer:
You can certainly get some lifting with fat injections into the temple and upper orbital rim area, however I would not recommend doing it. If you are going to undertake volume restoration for the temple area only, I would use something like Sculptra or Radiesse instead. If you were looking to restore volume to the face as a whole, then temples can certainly be included. The results from this are not equal to an upper eyelid blepharoplasty for upper eyelid rejuvenation however. A consultation will be able to provide you with the necessary information to make an educated decision.

I would like to get a facelift Can I get my whole face done at one time

Question:
I would like to get a facelift for my 50th birthday! Can I get my whole face done at one time, or does the rhytidectomy just correct one or two areas at a time, like chin and cheeks or eyes and forehead?

Answer:
Rhytidectomy and facelift are both generic terms used to describe surgery to lift the face. People today are even quoting “liquid facelift” to describe using Sculptra, BOTOX and other fillers to lift the face. You can certainly have one or more areas of your face addressed at one time. It really depends on what your concerns are. If the forehead is low then usually a brow lift will be done with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The midface or cheek region is usually treated with a fat transfer to restore lost volume and perhaps a lower eyelid blepharoplasty. The jawline and neck are treated with a lower facelift. Those procedures may all be done concurrently or them may be done one area at a time. It is your choice.
