Nancy,

Thanks for your question regarding whether to perform facial plastic surgery on the entire face at one time or to break it down into different segments.  For the most part it is at the patient’s discretion whether or not to address the entire face or to separate the rejuvenation into several procedures over time.  You certainly can do forehead lifting, blepharoplasty, facelifting and fat transfer as well as other ancillary procedures in one operation without difficulty.  The advantage to doing this is the decreased overall cost as well as the decreased recovery time compared to doing it separately.  We have many patients who choose this option.  We also however have many patients who address specific concerns separately.  Typically, the procedures are broken down into regions.  If you are going to address your age-related changes over time we select which area has experienced the most change and address that first.  Typically you would address the forehead and upper eyelids together, the lower eyelids with the cheek and the jawline with the neck.  Any of the above combinations can be performed together however.  During your consultation, we will discuss the specific procedures as well as the recovery times related to each.  We can then easily determine what would be the best option in your particular case.
