Nasal Skin Cancer Reconstruction

This young patient developed a basal cell cancer on her nose. The area involved is called the nasal ala and is a very sensitive area to reconstruct. She underwent reconstruction using cartilage from her ear for structure and skin from her cheek utilizing the attached blood vessels. This was a two stage operation to recreate the form and function of the nose. Her photos demonstrate the recreation of the nasal form that is achieved with this technique.
