Fraxel® is a unique laser therapy designed to dramatically repair fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars while improving skin texture and pigmentation - even on delicate skin. Fraxel is a proven, safe approach to repairing aging and sun-damaged skin, with many of the benefits of ablative laser skin resurfacing, but without the downtime, side effects and lengthy recovery period.

Fraxel Laser Treatment produces thousands of tiny but deep columns of treatment in your skin, known as microthermal treatment zones.  This treatment eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells. It also penetrates deep into the dermis.  Just as important though are the areas of skin the Fraxel laser leaves untouched.  For every microthermal zone the laser targets and treats intensively, it leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact.  This “fractional” treatment allows the skin to heal much faster that if the entire area were treated at once; using the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy tighter tissue to replace the skin imperfections.

By design, each Fraxel Laser Treatment targets between 20 and 25 percent of the skin’s surface.  Clinical studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is 3-5 sessions, spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart.  Results are immediate and progressive.  Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months.

After your very first Fraxel laser treatment, you will begin to feel the difference in your skin, as it gradually becomes softer, smoother, tighter and fresher.  Fine lines around you eyes will noticeably fade.  So will uneven coloring and the brown spots caused by aging and sun exposure.  After several treatments, friends and family will marvel at how youthful and healthy your skin looks.  Finally, there is a proven, safe approach to repairing aging and sun-damaged skin.

To determine if a patient is a good candidate for this procedure, Dr. Buckingham recommends a private patient consultation.

Dr. Buckingham feels that successful facial plastic surgery results from the development and maintenance of good rapport between the patient, the surgeon, and his staff during the consultation and future appointments.  The consultation will include a complete facial analysis to determine the best procedure to bring about the desired results and all questions relating to the patient’s specific concerns will be addressed.

Prospective patients are encouraged to call the office to schedule an appointment at their earliest convenience.
