Radiesse® is an alternative injectable filler for deep facial lines.  It is made up of calcium hydroxyapatite, a material naturally found in teeth and bone.  Calcium hydroxyapatite has been safely used for several years in the body for many applications including dental applications where bone build-up is needed for reconstruction.  With Radiesse, the calcium hydroxyapatite micro spheres are suspended in a polysaccharide carrier, which holds the micro spheres in place until it is resorbed and the collagenation takes place.  When injected in soft tissue, away from bone, fibroblasts work by building reportedly a non-scar tissue collagen type, thus creating volume in the treatment area.  Radiesse has been FDA approved for certain medical conditions and has been used extensively for cosmetic purposes in recent years.  The longevity of this treatment is on average about 18 months.

To determine if a patient is a good candidate for this procedure, Dr. Buckingham recommends a private patient consultation.

Dr. Buckingham feels that successful facial plastic surgery results from the development and maintenance of good rapport between the patient, the surgeon, and his staff during the consultation and future appointments.  The consultation will include a complete facial analysis to determine the best procedure to bring about the desired results and all questions relating to the patient’s specific concerns will be addressed.

Prospective patients are encouraged to call the office to schedule an appointment at their earliest convenience.
