Question:
Is alloderm a good choice when the nose needs to be built up? How is it used?
Answer:
AlloDerm is not a good choice to augment a nose. AlloDerm tends to be reabsorbed over time and so therefore the result is not predictive or permanent. Cartilage is the best choice for nasal augmentation in our opinion. If possible we will use the patient’s own cartilage but in certain instances donor cartilage may be utilized. A secondary option would be to use a synthetic material such as Gore-Tex.
