Question:
I spend most of my summers sailing and as a result, I have some areas of pre-cancerous keratoses that need to be removed. I have been told that a chemical peel will remove these areas. Is this true?
Answer:
A chemical peel can be effective in removing pre-cancerous areas. It is not covered by insurance and is not usually used as a spot treatment. Patients desiring spot treatment or insurance are better off seeing a dermatologist and utilizing cryotherapy or topical anti-cancer agents.
