Question:
I’m a 64-year-old woman from Austin, Texas. As I’ve gotten older I’ve become increasingly unhappy with the appearance of my eyes, mainly that the upper eyelid hangs down very low. Can this be fixed in a very natural way so that I don’t look “done”?
Answer:
The procedure you are describing is an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. That procedure involves removing the redundant upper eyelid skin and at times muscle and fat. If the incision is performed in a naturally occurring crease and the amount of skin removed is not excessive, a natural result can be achieved. In our office this procedure is performed under local anesthesia with mild oral medication to relax the patient.
