Can a chemical peel be used to smooth the skin on my upper chest? I think this skin has aged due to many years of being in the sun. I look pretty bad when I wear a dress or blouse that exposes my chest at all.
A chemical peel can be used to smooth the chest, but you have to be a little careful how aggressively you treat that particular area. The chest does not have the same concentration of fine hair follicles or oil glands that the face has to regenerate skin. Going too deep with a chemical can lead to scarring. Fractionated lasers may be a better choice to resurface the chest. Either a fractionated C02 laser or Fraxel re:store (erbium) may be used. The recovery period varies for each device, but both are effective.
