Question:
I have very wrinkled skin around my lips. I have tried products on the market, like lip balm, to improve this area but nothing seems to work. What type of procedure would improve my looks?
Answer:
Lip wrinkles require a multi-faceted approach. Usually deflation of the skin and sub-cutaneous tissue contributes, the quality of the skin itself contributes and at times an overactive lip muscle contributes. We therefore target each of these causes. The soft tissue loss is treated with fillers, usually hyaluronic acid products such as Restylane or Juvederm. The muscle, when appropriate, is treated with Botox, and the skin is treated with fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing.
