I have a hump on my nose that I would like to have removed. Is this done by filing down the hump or by breaking the bones? Can it be performed through a closed rhinoplasty?
Hump removal is performed by first filing down the hump and then performing osteotomies to move nasal bones back into the midline at the top of the nose where when the hump is taken down forms what is called an open roof (basically the nasal bones are separated from each other). The procedure can be performed through an endonasal a.k.a. closed rhinoplasty approach.
