Question:
I am planning on having a chemical peel (or series of peels) to remove some scarring from my face and to correct sun damage. How long will the results last and will I have to continue getting peels?
Answer:
The results from a chemical peel will defer based upon the type of peel and depth achieved. With regards to scarring the results will typically be relatively permanent. However, it is difficult to achieve much improvement and scarring from a chemical peel. In regards to sun damage, it is dependent upon how well the patient takes care of their skin following the peel and how much further sun exposure. Efforts can be made with skin care to improve the longevity.
