Question:
I am quite interested in cheek implant surgery. I have wanted more pronounced cheekbones for several years but for me that was only a pipe dream. Now I have noticed some sagging in my cheeks, perhaps even the formation of jowls. Would the cheek implants alone alleviate these skin issues or should I be looking at something like a midface lift? Would I still need implants if I got a lift?
Answer:
Cheek implants would most likely alleviate the issues of sagging tissue in the midface, but may not do the same for the jowl. We are more in favor however of using your own fat cells and performing a fat transfer to plump up the cheeks and restore lost volume. With a fat transfer volume can be placed not only in the cheeks, but in other locations on the face producing a more global improvement and perhaps alleviating the need for lifting surgery or delaying it for a later date.
