I would like a skin treatment to remove age spots that look like large diffuse freckles. I want a quick treatment with no down time. Can microdermabrasion be used for this? Would more than one session be required?
In my opinion, microdermabrasion is not the answer for brown spots. The first line of therapy for pigmentation is good skin care with targeted agents such as hydroquinone and retin-A. Microdermabrasion will assist in the penetration of these products, but in and of itself will not decrease pigment. If you are looking for no down time, there are light chemical peels which can be added to improve your result. If you decide you can tolerate a little down-time there are a variety of lasers which can be added to speed the improvement.
