Question:
Everything I’ve read about laser skin resurfacing treatments says it doesn’t hurt. My brother had a laser peel for acne scars, and he said it hurt a a lot. I too, suffer from acne scars, and I’d like to get a laser peel, but I don’t want it to hurt. Can topical anesthesia be used during a laser peel?
Answer:
Laser peels for acne scarring hurt. Anyone who says differently is not being honest. We utilize a combination of oral sedation, topical anesthetic and local anesthetic injections prior to our laser peels. This makes the procedure very tolerable with little discomfort from the actual procedure. The injections performed in preparation for the procedure are uncomfortable but the sedation makes the experience well tolerated.
