Question:
I’m looking into different facial fillers to smooth out my face. I’m 45, but I already have deep nasolabial folds and forehead wrinkles. I’ve heard Restylane Lyft lasts six months, which seems long for a facial filler. Can Restylane Lyft be used for wrinkles on the forehead as well as the nasolabial folds?
Answer:
Restylane Lyft will last at least 6 months. Usually longer. Restylane Lyft can be used for forehead lines, but there is a risk in the forehead of vascular compromise and it is difficult to get good results because of the skin thickness and length of the wrinkles. We do use Restylane Lyft in the glabellar (frown) lines of the forehead frequently however. Forehead lines are best treated with a neuromuscular blocker such as Botox or Dysport and then if necessary with skin resurfacing such as a fractionated C02 laser. Fraxel repair is an example of this. There are different facial fillers that last different lengths of time. The hyaluronic acid products (Juvederm, Restylane, Restylane Lyft) tend to last the least amount of time, but they are also the most versitile and easy to use. Radiesse tends to last a little longer, but also is more difficult to inject and has a firmer feel initially that resolves. Sculptra is a completely different filler that builds up slowly over the course of a couple of months, but lasts at least 2 years and for some as long as 5 years.
