I keep hearing about new Botox-like injectables like Dysport and Xeomin. Are there any benefits to using these instead of Botox?
As long as the cost is the same there isn’t any real advantage to Dysport and Xeomin. The companies keep sponsoring studies to try and differentiate themselves on items such as longevity and speed of onset, but in our experience they are interchangeable. We do have patients that will request one product or the other after trying both, but most do not see a difference. It is possible that a patient could develop a tolerance to one product and do better with another, but those chances are small.
