Question:
Is it true that scar revision improves scars rather than gets rid of them? What does this mean and how significantly improved are they?
Answer:
That is a tru statement. Scars are usually improved through either resurfacing of the skin with a process called dermabrasion or with lasers, or through surgical excision of the scar and repair using camouflaging techniques. Dermabrasion is a sanding procedure to help the scars blend in. Laser resurfacing works much in the same way. Regardless of which technique is used however the scars will technically still be present. Even though the scar may still be present the visibility of the scar can usually be improved and that is what really matters. The degree of improvement obtained depends on the type of scar, the size etc.
