Question:
My daughter is 5 years old and has severely deformed ears. Is she too young to get otoplasty surgery? If so, what age would you recommend?
Answer:
5 years of age is a good age to have an otoplasty. At that age the ears have achieved nearly their adult size and the child is usually emotionally mature enough to follow instructions after surgery. Additionally, the ear cartilage is soft and molds easily. Otoplasty can also be performed on patients well into adulthood.
