Question:
My sister suggests Botox to refresh my face. Since Botox is derived from a neurotoxin, what are usual side effects?
Answer:
Usually the side effects from Botox are minor and are not related to the neurotoxin, but rather the injection itself and are a little tenderness at the injection sight and possibly a small amount of bruising. On rare occasion other side effects can be noticed related to minor migration of the toxin. This will cause a relaxation of an unintended muscle group near the site of the injection. Other side effects are possible, but even more rare. A complete list of potential side effects is available on the Botox website. Understand though that the complete list of side effects from studies may or may not be caused by the actual Botox injection.
