Question:
I’m from Cedar Park and I am experiencing lipoatrophy in my cheeks. When cheeks are losing their shape due to fat loss, should they be re-sculpted using a synthetic product like Sculptra or my own harvested fat transferred from another area of my body?
Answer:
Either fat transfer or injectable fillers including Sculptra can be useful for adding volume to the cheeks. It depends upon the patient’s preference and availability of donor fat. Injectable products have less downtime than a fat transfer however they are also temporary. The advantage of the fat transfer is that it has better longevity and is a natural alternative.
