Question:
When is it necessary to break the nose during a rhinoplasty surgery?
Answer:
There are several indications for performing osteotomies in rhinoplasty. The most common are either pre-existing deviation of the nasal bones where straightening is indicated or when a bump is taken down in which case the nasal bones need to be brought together again. Either way it is not a big deal at all to perform osteotomies and the outcome with them is often better than not performing them. The recovery is essentially the same.
