Belotero® is a injectable dermal filler comprised of hyaluronic acid which can help to rejuvenate the face for a beautiful, youthful glow. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance in the body which helps to add volume and moisture to the skin for a youthful appearance. As we age, the hyaluronic acid diminishes, contributing to the development of lines and wrinkles.
Belotero® can be used to replace the lost hyaluronic acid during a simple, in-office injectable treatment. Belotero® is unique in that it integrates seamlessly with your own dermal tissues, allowing for discreet, subtle enhancement of the facial contours. At the same time, the moisturizing and rehydrating benefits help to produce a radiant glow. This is an ideal treatment for lines around the nose and mouth as well as other facial wrinkles and folds.
At the Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery of Austin, Texas, Belotero® treatments are performed in the office setting. To maximize the patient’s comfort level, a very fine needle is used. The procedure takes about forty-five minutes to complete and results in an instant yet subtle plumping and volumizing effect. There is little to no recovery or downtime after treatment with Belotero®. Some patients experience minor redness, swelling or bruising that fades quickly. Nevertheless, patients are able to immediately return to their normal activities. Belotero® is an ideal choice for restoring a more youthful and radiant facial appearance, with results that last up to six months.
A private patient consultation with Dr. Buckingham is the best way to determine if treatment with Belotero® is right for you.

Frequently Asked Belotero® Questions
What is Belotero®?
Belotero® is a hyaluronic acid filler very similar to Restylane® and Juvederm®, however it is constituted in a different way that allows for it to be injected into very superficial lines and wrinkles without looking lumpy and without giving a bluish hue referred to as a Tyndall effect. Belotero® can also be used for deeper injections to fill folds and hollows under the eye, but its unique characteristic as an HA filler is the ability for superficial correction.
What is hyaluronic acid?
The best candidates for Belotero® are patients with fine lines and wrinkles in isolation or in combination with greater degrees of facial volume depletion who are also in good health and have reasonable expectations as to what a filler can accomplish. Fillers can provide great improvement for certain conditions, but are not a replacement for surgical intervention when warranted.
What can I expect during a consultation for Belotero® treatment?
After a medical history is obtained, Dr. Buckingham will have the patient express their areas of concern. He will then perform a detailed facial analysis and discuss the best non-surgical and if indicated surgical option describing in detail the advantages and disadvantages as well as risks of each procedure. If a patient is a good candidate for filler, Dr. Buckingham will discuss the different types of fillers and recommend the best approach for the patient’s individual concerns. If desired, filler injections can usually be performed the same day.
